Westchester County New York

 Westchester County is in the southeastern part of New York State.Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524 explored the Westchester County area from Europe. As did Henry Hudson in 1609 (as in the Hudson RiveR). The  Dutch settled the area on the back of the West India Company in the 1620s and 1630s who spondered settlements.The English came in the 1640s.

Westchester County was an original county of the Province of New York, one of twelve created in 1683.  One could actually walk to Manhattan as fast as it would be to drive.
